$336.4 Million Powerball Winner From Rhode Island
3/6/2012
You probably bought a ticket for the February 11, 2012 Powerball draw. If so, you weren't alone. That night, it was Powerball fever all across the country (At least in the states that sell Powerball tickets). Everybody was dreaming about winning the huge Powerball prize. The jackpot was $336.4 million.

So you bought a ticket and dreamed. The next morning, you probably woke up to the news that the winning ticket was sold in Rhode Island. You don't live in Rhode Island. There goes the dream. D'oh!

It wasn't you. You didn't win. Unbeknownst to you, the winning ticket was sitting tucked inside a Bible, a Bible owned by a woman named Louise White of Newport, Rhode Island, who is pictured here.

Louise White won the $336.4 million Powerball jackpot that you so dreamed about that day. She's the lucky one. By the time you woke up the Sunday after the draw to check your numbers, that winning ticket was already sitting tucked inside of Louise's Bible, who had gone out for breakfast with her family.

Louise White may have gone to Denny's for breakfast. Perhaps she went to Waffle House. Heck, maybe it was even McDonalds. But wherever it was, she had $336.4 million with her, tucked safely inside her Bible that she held by her side. She was the richest woman in the restaurant - by FAR!

She and her family must've done some pondering at breakfast that morning, pondering about what to do. Louise decided to take some time. She took some time before claiming the prize. It's been a few weeks now, and she used those few weeks to consult with professionals. Today she was finally announced as the big winner, claiming the prize as The Rainbow Sherbert Trust. The Trust was named after Rainbow Sherbert because that's what one of her family members was craving the night she went out to buy the ticket. That's why she went to the store - To get some Rainbow Sherbert.

Louise is 81-years-old. It took her 81 years to become stinkin' rich. But now she is stinkin' rich and she'll be able to enjoy that wealth. "I wanted to say that I am very happy and I'm very proud and this will make my family very happy," Louise said. "We are truly blessed, thank you."

Are you still disappointed that it wasn't you? You didn't win the $336.4 million Powerball jackpot? Well, don't fret. You'll get your chance again, and you'll get it very soon. You see, the new Powerball changes implemented this year were designed to make the jackpots grow at a faster rate. Those $300 million plus jackpots will be much more commonplace now. Heck, we will even begin to see $400 million and $500 million jackpots, and sometimes even higher. Did you know that, with the new ticket pricing and odds changes, the Powerball jackpot is expected to reach $1 billion every ten years or so?

Yep, we'll see a billion dollar jackpot in the not-too-distant future. Then you'll really feel the wrath of Powerball fever. And you thought Louise White's $336.4 million win was big. Pfft!

Congratulations to Louise on her lucky win!
